The Opportunity:

Our client is a large, purpose-driven Federal Government Agency seeking an EL1 Specialist Advisor – Employment Suitability and Workforce Integrity to lead the development and uplift of workforce suitability and integrity frameworks across the employment lifecycle.

This is a senior advisory role responsible for shaping contemporary suitability practices, providing expert advice on complex cases, and strengthening risk-based controls aligned to APS integrity and personnel security requirements.

  • Australian Citizenship required (MANDATORY – Federal Government).
  • Initial contract until 31st December, with potential extension.
  • EL1 rate: $602.55/ daily + Super.
  • WFH Flexibility (2/3): Based out of Richmond or Geelong, VIC.

About the role:

The EL1 Specialist Advisor works under broad direction to lead complex workstreams relating to workforce suitability, personnel security and integrity risk.

You will design and implement frameworks, provide authoritative advice on sensitive matters, and partner closely with People & Culture, Security, Fraud, Legal and Risk functions to ensure consistent, defensible and proportionate suitability decisions across the organisation.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the design and implementation of a contemporary employee suitability framework
  • Providing expert advice on complex suitability, integrity and workforce risk matters
  • Strengthening pre-employment screening and suitability assessment processes
  • Supporting risk-informed approaches to ongoing workforce suitability monitoring
  • Contributing to governance, policy and procedural uplift across the employment lifecycle
  • Preparing high-quality briefs, advice and documentation for senior executives
  • Building strong relationships with internal assurance and integrity stakeholders

Essential criteria:

  • Significant experience in workforce suitability, personnel security, vetting or integrity-related roles
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex information and apply sound judgement to sensitive matters
  • Experience developing or applying frameworks, risk criteria or assessment methodologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level briefings
  • Ability to lead complex work, manage priorities and operate with discretion

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience applying PSPF requirements across the workforce lifecycle
  • Experience working in government or other highly regulated environments
  • Experience leading reform, governance or capability uplift initiatives
