The Role

This is a senior Security Architect opportunity within a large Australian financial services organisation, responsible for ensuring technology solutions are secure, scalable and aligned with enterprise architecture and security standards.

Working across major technology initiatives, platforms, vendors and delivery teams, you will provide security architecture leadership from early solution design through to implementation and assurance. You will help embed security by design, identify and manage architectural risk, and provide clear guidance on the security implications of key technology decisions.s

The role requires a strong enterprise security architecture background, the ability to operate across complex stakeholder environments, and a pragmatic approach to balancing security, regulatory compliance, delivery speed and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide security architecture leadership across technology initiatives, ensuring solutions are designed and delivered in accordance with enterprise security standards, architecture principles and regulatory obligations.
  • Develop security architecture deliverables and guide solution and technical architecture decisions across applications, platforms, vendors and partners, embedding security requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Identify security gaps and deviations across the Application Portfolio Model (APM) and Technology Portfolio Model (TPM), ensuring risks are appropriately assessed, governed and escalated where required.
  • Contribute to domain strategies and technology roadmaps, helping reduce security risk and technical debt while supporting future business and technology capability.
  • Define and assure security non-functional requirements across areas including confidentiality, integrity and availability, ensuring services meet appropriate security and resilience expectations.
  • Provide stakeholders with clear security assessments, recommendations and architectural options, articulating the business impact, benefits, risks and compliance implications of key design decisions.
  • Support technology programs through ongoing security assurance, constructively challenging architecture decisions and working collaboratively with engineering, delivery, risk and security teams to resolve issues.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Security Architect, Cyber Security Architect or Solution Architect with significant security architecture responsibilities within a large, complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of security architecture principles, security-by-design practices, enterprise architecture and technology risk management, with the ability to apply these pragmatically across solution delivery.
  • Experience assessing application and technology architectures, identifying security risks and technical debt, and developing practical remediation or risk treatment recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of security and regulatory requirements relevant to large Australian organisations, with APRA CPS 234 experience highly regarded, particularly within banking, insurance or broader financial services.
  • Proven ability to influence architecture and design decisions across applications, infrastructure, platforms, cloud services, third-party vendors and enterprise technology environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capability, with the ability to translate complex security risks into clear options and recommendations for architects, delivery teams, business stakeholders and senior leaders.
