Solution Architect | Enterprise Solution Architecture & Technology Design

• Location: Canberra (Onsite)
• Security Clearance: NV1 (Mandatory)
• Contract Length: 12 Months + 2 x 12 Month Extensions (Based on the sole discretion of the Department)

About the Position:

This isn’t a role focused on designing individual systems.

It’s about shaping end-to-end technology solutions that are secure, scalable and aligned with long-term enterprise objectives.

Working within a central architecture function, you’ll partner with business stakeholders, delivery teams and technical specialists to translate business outcomes into practical solution designs. You’ll influence technology decisions from concept through to implementation, ensuring architectural consistency, governance and assurance across complex ICT initiatives.

You’ll also play an active role in architectural governance, contributing to reference architectures, design standards and review forums that help guide technology decisions across the broader organisation.

What You’ll Do:

• Design end-to-end technology solutions that are secure, scalable and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
• Produce high-quality architecture artefacts, including solution designs, reference architectures, roadmaps and technical documentation.
• Guide solution delivery through architecture governance, design reviews and stakeholder collaboration.
• Contribute to architectural standards, technology patterns and continuous improvement across the architecture practice.

What We Are Looking For:

• Demonstrated experience designing enterprise technology solutions within complex ICT environments.
• Strong solution architecture capability, including production of architecture documentation and design artefacts.
• Experience working across multiple technologies, integration patterns and secure environments while balancing business, technical and security considerations.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence architecture decisions and communicate effectively across both business and technical audiences.

• TOGAF (or equivalent) and Architecture Governance
• Cloud, SaaS, Integration & Hybrid Technology Environments
• Information Security, ISM, Essential Eight & Architecture Assurance

A Quick Note Before You Apply:

This role is unlikely to suit infrastructure specialists, technical leads or solution designers whose experience has been focused on delivering individual technologies without broader ownership of enterprise solution design and architectural governance.

Success in this role requires balancing business outcomes, technology strategy, security, integration and governance to produce practical architecture that supports long-term delivery.
