Solution Architect
Role Overview
The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and delivering end-to-end technology solutions across IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments. This role supports business-critical delivery initiatives that may span data platforms, software applications, system integrations, and OT infrastructure.
The Solution Architect works closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and technical SMEs to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and fit-for-purpose solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Architecture
- Lead end-to-end solution architecture across IT and OT domains
- Develop high-level and detailed solution designs for data, software, and integration initiatives
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards
- Design scalable, resilient, and maintainable technology solutions
Technical Requirements & Discovery
- Facilitate technical requirements gathering workshops
- Translate business requirements into functional and non-functional technical specifications
- Identify integration touchpoints, data flows, and system dependencies
- Assess current-state architecture and define future-state design
Integration & Data Architecture
- Design system integrations across IT and OT platforms
- Define API, middleware, and messaging patterns
- Ensure robust data architecture, governance, and data flow design
- Support cloud, on-premise, and hybrid solution environments
Documentation & Governance
- Produce architecture documentation, including:
- Solution design documents
- Architecture diagrams
- Integration specifications
- Technical decision records
- Contribute to architecture review forums and design governance processes
- Maintain traceability between requirements and solution design
Delivery Support
- Partner with Project Managers, Delivery Leads, and engineering teams
- Provide architectural oversight during build and implementation phases
- Support risk identification and mitigation from a technical perspective
- Assist with vendor evaluation and technical selection where required
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect in complex IT environments
- Experience working across IT/OT systems and integration landscapes
- Strong understanding of data architecture, APIs, middleware, and system integration
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work across cross-functional technical and business teams
- Experience producing structured architecture documentation
