Solution Architect | Cloud & On-Prem | Integration | Security, Governance & Agile Delivery | NV1 Cleared

• Location: Canberra | ACT (Hybrid/ Remote)
• Security Clearance: NV1 Cleared (Preferred)
• Contract Length: Initial contract until 30^th June 2026 + 2 * 12 months extensions (Based on the discretion of the Department)

We are seeking an experienced ‘Cloud & Integration Solution Architect’ to work directly with IT, business areas, and Agile Delivery Teams to provide strategic and technical guidance while leading the development of solution architectures. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical design, governance, and enterprise-level leadership, ensuring solutions align with business needs and government standards.

Key responsibilities of the position:

• Lead the development of architectures for complex solutions, ensuring alignment with agreed requirements.

• Provide technical guidance and governance on solution development and integration.

• Identify and evaluate alternative architectures, analysing trade-offs in cost, performance, and scalability.

• Produce detailed specifications for cloud-based and on-premises components, tiers, and interfaces.

• Manage and coordinate the target architecture across projects, workstreams, and initiatives.

• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of policies, principles, and practices for architecture component selection.

• Ensure consistent application of technical strategies, policies, standards, and security practices.

• Evaluate requests for changes and deviations, making recommendations to governance bodies.

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in solution architecture across complex, multi-system environments.

• Strong track record of providing governance and technical direction for solution development and integration.

• Expertise in designing cloud-native and on-prem architectures with detailed component and interface specifications.

• Solid knowledge of architecture frameworks, standards, and security policies.

• Experience contributing to the selection and governance of architectural components.

• Background working within Agile project/program delivery environments.

Desirable skills & experience:

• Tertiary qualifications or industry-recognised certification in Information Management, Computer Science, or related disciplines.

• Proficiency with Archimate 3.1 for architecture documentation and definition.

• Delivery of large-scale ICT transformation programs, ideally in Commonwealth Government.

• Knowledge of Commonwealth ICT frameworks and governance practices.

• Understanding of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
