Systems Specialist – Software / Standards / Maintenance

- Security Clearance: Active NV1 clearance required
- Work Arrangement: Onsite | Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
Position Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Systems Specialist – Software / Standards / Maintenance to support the delivery of a significant aviation capability within a complex government environment.
- Working with senior stakeholders and delivery teams, you will develop high-quality, traceable Function and Performance Specifications (FPS) across software, standards and maintenance elements. The role will support aircraft platforms, simulators, training solutions and Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) training systems, while contributing to systems engineering, acquisition and commercial activities.
This position would suit a strong technical professional with excellent analytical and writing capability and experience working across complex capability development or acquisition programs.
Key Duties
- Develop high-quality, traceable software FPS and supporting artefacts across aircraft platforms, simulators, training solutions, maintenance and operational interfaces, contracted services and LVC training systems.
- Develop maintenance FPS and supporting artefacts for aircraft platforms, simulators, training solutions and LVC training systems.
- Research and document relevant standards across project elements.
- Complete FPS for software, standards and maintenance elements.
- Populate and maintain systems engineering databases.
- Draft ASDEFCON Data Item Descriptions (DIDs).
- Participate in commercial and tender evaluation activities.
- Conduct vendor requirements reviews.
- Represent the program at forums involving operators, delivery agents and other stakeholders.
- Build effective stakeholder relationships and support the identification and resolution of capability risks and complex issues.
- Prepare and present written and verbal reports to committees and boards.
- Apply strategic guidance to support successful capability delivery.
Skills and Experience Required
- Active NV1 security clearance is essential.
- Strong analytical capability and ability to work through complex technical requirements.
- High-level technical and specification writing skills.
- Strong presentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- Demonstrated software knowledge and technical capability.
- Experience developing structured, traceable specifications and technical artefacts.
- Experience working with systems engineering databases.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification is highly regarded.
- Experience in capability development and acquisition environments is highly regarded.
- Aircraft acquisition experience would be particularly valuable.
- Ability to work effectively with technical, operational, commercial and delivery stakeholders.
- Ability to travel is desirable.
