About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Software Packaging Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join a client-side environment in Sydney/Newcastle. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys building enterprise-grade application packages, automating deployments, and acting as the technical escalation point for complex packaging and deployment challenges.

You’ll work closely with infrastructure, security, and project teams to deliver reliable, secure, and standardised application deployments across a large Windows environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Packaging & Repackaging
  • Create, modify, and maintain application packages including MSI, MST, EXE, MSIX, Intune Win32, App-V
  • Use tools such as AdminStudio, InstallShield, RoboPack, Winget
  • Ensure packages meet enterprise standards and deployment requirements
  • Deployment & Distribution
  • Deploy applications using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) and Intune
  • Configure advanced deployment settings including dependencies, detection methods, supersedence, and task sequences
  • Scripting & Automation
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell (PSADT) and VBScript
  • Deliver silent, unattended installations and configuration workflows
  • Troubleshooting & Support
  • Act as L3 escalation support for complex packaging and deployment issues
  • Perform deep analysis using tools such as ProcMon and RegMon
  • OS Deployment & Image Management
  • Support Windows OSD, image creation, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Assist with hardware refresh and task sequence improvements
  • Patch Management
  • Support monthly Windows patching cycles for clients and servers
  • Deploy security updates and ensure compliance reporting
  • Documentation & Standards
  • Produce clear, high-quality technical documentation (SOPs, KBs, best practices)
  • Support L1/L2 teams with structured handover documentation
  • Collaboration
  • Partner with infrastructure, security, and project teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise and security standards

Skills & Experience Required

  • 2-6 years’ experience in application packaging and deployment
  • Strong hands-on experience with SCCM/MECM and Intune
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting (PSADT highly desirable)
  • Strong understanding of Windows Installer technologies
  • Experience with AdminStudio, InstallShield, MSIX, MSI, Winget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to create clear, structured technical documentation

Desirable (Nice to Have)

  • Microsoft 70-243 certification or equivalent/latest SCCM certification
  • Exposure to AWS EBS and Azure DevOps
  • Experience in large enterprise or highly regulated environments
