Site Engineering Project Engineer - Rail/Telco - 6 months

Talent International is recruiting an experienced Project Engineer to join one of our major clients delivering a significant rail telecommunications and radio systems replacement program.

This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day technical execution and implementation of telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring assigned works comply with approved design documentation, quality requirements, safety standards and environmental management obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and coordinate day-to-day technical activities associated with EUTRAN radio sites, backhaul transmission network components and supporting physical infrastructure.
  • Ensure site works comply with approved Detailed System Design and Issued for Construction documentation.
  • Verify AC/DC power systems, earthing and lightning protection installations against approved designs and relevant standards.
  • Provide technical support and on-site guidance to subcontractors and escalate technical issues and risks where required.
  • Support RF planning, EME assurance and EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Maintain site planning, actual and forecast progress dates and blockers within project systems.
  • Manage and track BoM / BOQ accuracy, availability, changes, returns and faulty materials.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, replacements and return processes with logistics teams and subcontractors.
  • Support Inspection, Testing and Commissioning activities including Progressive Verification, SAT and System Performance Testing.
  • Complete pre-checks and post-checks to verify installation quality and compliance.
  • Record quality findings and drive defect close-out with subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with project HSE, rail safety and environmental requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project, quality, work-pack and site documentation.
  • Review subcontractor ITP / ITR documentation to support first-time-right quality and final customer acceptance.
  • Coordinate effectively with rollout managers, installation teams, subcontractors, logistics providers and other stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • 3-5+ years of telecommunications project implementation, site engineering or field delivery experience.
  • Experience in rail, transport or other critical infrastructure environments is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience with LTE/4G technologies, radio access networks and associated physical infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, DSD and IFC design documentation.
  • Knowledge of testing and commissioning procedures for telecommunications equipment.
  • Experience with BoM / BOQ tracking, material management and returns processes.
  • Familiarity with construction environmental management plans and safety management systems.
  • Working understanding of RF principles, EME and electrical safety.
  • Experience with project documentation systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving, organisation and stakeholder communication skills.

Qualifications

  • TAFE qualification or Bachelor degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Current RIW Card is required.
