Are you passionate about improving system reliability and performance in a high-impact federal environment? Our client, a respected Federal Health Care provider, is seeking an experienced Service Reliability Engineer to join their technical team in Perth on a labour hire basis. This role is suited to a proactive, technically skilled individual who can work across development and operations to ensure the stability, scalability, and efficiency of mission-critical systems.

As a Service Reliability Engineer (APS5 level), you will contribute to enhancing internal systems, manage incidents, and collaborate with key stakeholders to continuously improve operational performance. The role includes a blend of technical analysis, monitoring, scripting, and collaboration with project and support teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance through monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to identify and address performance bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and optimise observability systems to support real-time insights and proactive incident management.
  • Perform risk mitigation, incident response, and root cause analysis for operational issues.
  • Support project delivery and system integration in coordination with internal technical teams and business stakeholders.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk).
  2. Proficiency in scripting languages such as SPL, SQL, Python, and DQL.
  3. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
  4. Familiarity with federal government-level security best practices and compliance standards.
  5. Understanding of network monitoring, including Fortinet technologies.
  6. Minimum 2+ years in a similar service reliability or operations role, ideally in large or complex environments.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  3. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
  4. Ability to analyse complex technical problems and drive improvements across systems.
  5. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple support teams.
