
Service Reliability Engineer - Federal Government - Perth

Are you passionate about improving system reliability and performance in a high-impact federal environment? Our client, a respected Federal Health Care provider, is seeking an experienced Service Reliability Engineer to join their technical team in Perth on a labour hire basis. This role is suited to a proactive, technically skilled individual who can work across development and operations to ensure the stability, scalability, and efficiency of mission-critical systems.
As a Service Reliability Engineer (APS5 level), you will contribute to enhancing internal systems, manage incidents, and collaborate with key stakeholders to continuously improve operational performance. The role includes a blend of technical analysis, monitoring, scripting, and collaboration with project and support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance through monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement practices.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to identify and address performance bottlenecks.
- Maintain and optimise observability systems to support real-time insights and proactive incident management.
- Perform risk mitigation, incident response, and root cause analysis for operational issues.
- Support project delivery and system integration in coordination with internal technical teams and business stakeholders.
Essential Criteria:
- Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as SPL, SQL, Python, and DQL.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
- Familiarity with federal government-level security best practices and compliance standards.
- Understanding of network monitoring, including Fortinet technologies.
- Minimum 2+ years in a similar service reliability or operations role, ideally in large or complex environments.
Desirable Criteria:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
- Ability to analyse complex technical problems and drive improvements across systems.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple support teams.
