Senior Workplace Relations & Investigations Manager (EL1)
Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency seeking an experienced EL1 Senior Workplace Relations & Investigations Manager (Assistant Director – Workplace Integrity) to manage complex integrity and employee relations matters in a fast-paced People & Culture environment.
This role will suit someone confident running Code of Conduct investigations, managing Reviews of Action, and handling external jurisdiction matters while providing high-quality, strategic HR/ER advice to senior stakeholders.
- Australian Citizenship required (MANDATORY – Federal Government).
- Initial contract until 31 December 2026 with extension potential.
- EL1 Daily rate: $602.55 (excluding super).
About the role:
You will provide critical operational and strategic advice through interpretation and application of APS employment legislation, policies and enterprise agreement conditions. You’ll work with a high level of professionalism and discretion across confidential and complex matters, and represent the agency in internal and external forums where required.
Essnetial Experience:
- Researching, interpreting and applying an extensive knowledge of the APS HR legislation and policies and Enterprise Agreement and related HR policies to provide advice, support and management relating to complex people matters.
- Undertaking risk evaluation processes to make decisions, with limited direction, on the appropriate course of action to address very complex people matters in often challenging environments with multiple impacts.
- Undertaking Code of Conduct investigations and case management in accordance with the Public Service Act 1999.
- Conducting primary Reviews of Action and case managing secondary Reviews of Action under Section 33 of the Public Service Act 1999.
- Undertaking case management of External Jurisdiction matters in collaboration with the Legal Services Branch.
- Reviewing, analysing and managing the agencies policies owned by the team and actively contributing to other People & Culture policy reviews.
- Assessing, reporting and analysing case metrics to provide P&C Executive with meaningful, accurate and timely data to anticipate issues, inform decisions and steer the direction of people management in the agency
What we’re looking for:
- Strong APS HR/ER legislation and policy interpretation experience.
- Proven investigations and case management capability.
- Excellent written communication (reports/briefs) and ability to have difficult conversations.
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to operate in an agile, fast-paced environment.
- Desirable: Cert IV in Government Investigations.
