About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Windows Engineer to join a high-performing team supporting a complex enterprise environment within a government agency. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, security, and continuous improvement of Windows infrastructure, while playing a key role in incident management and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support and administration for the agency’s Windows environment across servers, desktops, and endpoints
- Lead and contribute to incident and problem management activities
- Maintain and enhance security across server, laptop, desktop, and data centre environments
- Deploy, patch, and manage Windows 11 environments using Microsoft Intune
- Implement and enforce corporate security policies and procedures
- Automate and optimise system administration tasks using PowerShell
- Support and maintain Active Directory, Entra ID, and hybrid identity environments
- Troubleshoot DNS, networking, and email routing issues
- Contribute to infrastructure design, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong experience with Microsoft technologies including Intune, Defender, Sentinel, and Microsoft E5 suite
- Proven experience deploying and managing Windows 11 environments via Intune
- Experience in incident and problem management within Windows Server environments
- Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and administration
- Solid experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Entra Connect
- Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure/Entra and/or AWS)
- Strong understanding of DNS (internal & external) and troubleshooting email routing issues
- Experience implementing security policies and controls across enterprise environments
Desirable
- Experience with OpenText Document Management systems
- Knowledge of Hybrid Exchange / Exchange Online
- Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP)
- Certifications such as MCSE, ITIL
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
- Knowledge of Windows device drivers
Security Clearance
- Must hold NV1 clearance, or
- Hold Baseline clearance with the ability to obtain NV1 prior to commencement
