Senior VMware Engineer
Start date: ASAP
Location: North Sydney (Hybrid)

We are seeking a Senior VMware Engineer to join a highly technical virtualisation design and operations team supporting a live, production enterprise environment. This role is for a hands-on Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep, current experience across core VMware technologies who can work independently, lead complex migrations and upgrades, and collaborate closely with other SMEs across infrastructure, network, security, and applications.

This is not a junior or purely operational role. You will be a senior technical authority, contributing to design, migration, upgrades, automation, and BAU support within a VMware-centric private and hybrid cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

Core Engineering & Operations

  • Act as a senior VMware SME, providing deep technical expertise across the virtualisation stack
  • Perform hands-on installation, configuration, migration, patching, and upgrades in live production environments
  • Lead and execute hardware refreshes, platform migrations, and BAU upgrades
  • Independently plan and deliver VMware changes with minimal supervision
  • Work closely with existing technology SMEs while operating as a senior escalation point

Required Skills and Experience

  • VMware vSphere
  • VMware vCenter
  • VMware ESXi (version 7 or 8)
  • VMware vSAN
  • VMware NSX-T (support and migration)
  • VMware vRealize

Candidates must bring 10+ years of VMware experience and a proven ability to deliver complex work autonomously in enterprise environments.

This is a standout opportunity for a proven, senior VMware SME to step into a high-impact role owning critical enterprise infrastructure in a live production environment.
