Senior SQL DBA

A leading Financial Services organisation is seeking a Senior SQL DBA with solid DevOps and automation skills (Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Ansible) to join their high-performing technology team on an initial six-month contract (with strong potential for extension).

You’ll play a key role in modernising their SQL database environment, helping to automate their migration from SQL Server 2016 to SQL Server 2022 by building CI/CD pipelines. This role will also work on a large transformation program where you will be required to communicate and liaise with a range of technical and business stakeholders.

What you’ll do:
* Drive SQL Server upgrades and migrations
* Build and maintain CI/CD and release pipelines (Jenkins, Bitbucket)
* Implement database automation for deployment, testing, and monitoring
* Drive continuous improvement across automation, scalability, and performance
* Mentor and upskill DBA and engineering teams in DevOps methodologies

To be successful in this role you will need:
* Tertiary qualifications and relevant industry certifications
* Strong hands-on knowledge and experience supporting SQL Server including experience migrating from one version to another (2016 – 2019, 2019 – 2022 etc)
* Solid DevOps / Infrastructure Automation experience within large, complex environments
* Advanced skills automating infrastructure using Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell
* Proven experience developing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins)
* Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams

This is a Sydney-based role which will require you to be in the office at least two days per week.
