Senior Security Advisor – SSN Sustainment

Job Summary / Overview
In this permanent position, the Senior Security Advisor will manage all security operations supporting SSN sustainment activities and provide expert advice across governance, physical, personnel and information security. The role leads operational direction, risk management and compliance activities while coordinating with internal teams, Commonwealth stakeholders and trilateral partners. It ensures Defence security requirements are met and supports continuous improvement of security practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise security operations for SSN sustainment across multiple sites
• Provide technical guidance and analysis to support accountable decision making
• Oversee development and improvement of security training and awareness programs
• Review and amend reports, policies and procedures
• Lead incident management, enquiries and reporting within mandated timeframes
• Manage security governance in alignment with PSPF, DSPF and Defence policies
• Liaise with security agencies to support local and international personnel security matters
• Lead security facilities projects, planning and implementation activities
• Identify knowledge gaps and recommend training needs
• Build strong relationships with Defence representatives and internal stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• Professional qualification in a relevant field
• Eligible for AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 2
• Eligible to meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations
• Completion or ability to complete the Defence Security Division Security Officer Course

Skills & Competencies

• Minimum 8 years Defence or similar security experience
• Strong knowledge of physical, personnel and information security in Defence environments
• Experience in compliance, assurance and governance frameworks
• Ability to identify and manage security threats and risks
• Ability to influence organisational change
• Strong communication skills
• Experience leading security teams
• Ability to work collaboratively and build cross functional teams
