We are currently on the lookout for an experienced RF Engineer with strong expertise in VHF and UHF radio systems to support the design, development, optimisation, and maintenance of mission?critical communication networks. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in technically complex environments and enjoys working across system design, testing, integration, and performance analysis.
The Radio Implementation Engineer is responsible for supporting or conducting practical deployment, installation, commissioning and transition of radio services including VHF/UHF and ADS-B services as required, in accordance with associated plans, processes and procedures, and in accordance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and optimise RF systems with a focus on VHF and UHF technologies.
  • Conduct RF modelling, propagation analysis, link budget calculations, and coverage assessments.
  • Support integration, testing, and commissioning of RF equipment and communication infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve RF performance issues, interference, and system degradation.
  • Develop technical documentation including design specifications, test plans, and engineering reports.
  • Collaborate with cross?functional teams including network engineering, systems engineering, field services, and project management.
  • Support compliance with regulatory and safety standards (ACMA, ICAO, Defence, or relevant industry frameworks).
  • Participate in field testing, site surveys, and validation activities as required.
  • Provide technical input into procurement, vendor evaluation, and equipment selection.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an RF Engineer working with VHF and UHF communication systems.
  • Bachelor of Engineering or similar degree, with relevant majors in electrical engineering, telecommunications or a related field
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria and/or Queensland would be highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of RF propagation, antenna systems, modulation techniques, and radio network design.
  • Experience with RF test equipment (spectrum analysers, signal generators, network analysers).
  • Familiarity with radio infrastructure such as repeaters, base stations, filters, combiners, and antennas.
  • Experience with RF planning tools and modelling software.
  • Strong analytical and problem?solving skills with the ability to work in complex technical environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
