Senior Planner
We are seeking a Senior Planner to deliver efficient statutory and non-statutory planning services, ensuring legislative obligations and strategic objectives are achieved. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex applications, mentor junior staff, and play a key role in shaping sustainable community outcomes. It is a 4 months contract role.
About the Role
As a Senior Planner, you will take ownership of complex planning matters while fostering strong collaboration across Council and external stakeholders. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and strategic planning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and manage complex planning applications using a project management approach
- Provide expert advice on planning matters, including the Planning Scheme, policies and legislation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior planners within the team
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives and policy development
- Represent Council at VCAT, committees and planning forums
- Lead and support process improvement initiatives
About You
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Local Government planning
- Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of the Victorian Planning System, including VPP, ResCode, PSPs and DCPs
- Proven experience assessing complex development applications
