Senior Pega Developer | Pega Platform & Cloud Delivery

Location: Canberra, ACT
Clearance: Baseline Security Clearance (minimum)
Contract Length: 12 months + 2 * 12 months extensions

The Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) Section is driving the Department’s automation agenda, delivering enterprise-scale ICT solutions on the Pega Platform and Cloud Pega Platform. These platforms enable automation of repeatable business processes, freeing staff to focus on higher-value outcomes while strengthening enterprise-wide capability.

We are seeking a ‘Senior Pega Developer’ to join a multi-disciplinary team delivering business-critical applications, embedding best practice design, and uplifting departmental capability through Pega enablement.

Key responsibilities of the position:

  • Develop and deliver Pega application components aligned to business requirements and user stories.

  • Undertake design reviews, documentation, and unit testing of applications.

  • Support and remediate application defects and implement design recommendations.

  • Mentor and upskill junior developers, embedding strong UX design principles and technical best practice.

  • Contribute to enterprise Pega standards, guardrails, and governance frameworks.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure technical feasibility.

  • Participate in technical design workshops, delivery forums, and quality reviews.

  • Design and create application reports, data models, and data dictionaries.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of EBS delivery methodologies and long-term maintainability.

  • Transfer skills and knowledge to APS staff and ensure documentation aligns with recordkeeping policies.

What we are looking for:

  • Pega Senior System Architect certification (or higher) with 2+ years’ experience as a Senior Developer/System Architect

  • Proven track record in delivering Pega enterprise solutions in production environments.

  • Deep technical knowledge of Pega components, frameworks, and integrations with other technologies

  • Ability to design class structures, rulesets, and case types to enable enterprise reusability.

  • Experience tuning Pega applications for optimal performance and scalability.

  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills in technical contexts, with the ability to lead development teams.

  • Demonstrated experience working within large-scale organisations.

Desirable skills & experience:

  • Developing accessible, responsive user interfaces in Pega (WCAG compliance, Cosmos, DX API)

  • Designing efficient and performant SQL queries and data models within Pega

  • Leading teams of developers, conducting build reviews, and engaging with stakeholders.

  • Converting business requirements into effective Pega application solutions

  • Designing modular applications and supporting transition-to-service deliverables
