
Senior Payroll Officer
Talent International is currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Officer to work for an NSW Government client based in Darlington. This position is a contract role for 6 months initially with the view to be extended and is paying an hourly rate of $77.09/hour + Super.
7 hours a day / 35 hours per week
Summary
This position supports the Payroll Officers in providing a broad range of payroll-related functions across the client. The Senior Payroll Officer works under limited supervision by the Payroll Manager while handling complex payroll matters in a professional and customer-focused manner and providing backup for the end-to-end payroll process. As the second line of payroll support, the role requires a strong and in-depth understanding and knowledge of client’s payroll procedures and policies.
Responsibility Description
- Perform a broad range of payroll-related activities for all client’s staff, including complex processes.
- Perform a broad range of complex payroll reconciliations, including but not limited to Long Service Leave, redundancies, severance payments, sick leave, workers’ compensation, over and underpayments.
- Respond to queries from the client and HRSC staff that relate to complex payroll matters that are not able to be resolved by the Contact Centre.
- Interpret awards/agreements and contracts to provide advice to Payroll Officers and staff.
- Work as a senior in the payroll team with a strong focus on providing advice, guidance and mentoring to Payroll Officers to ensure deadlines are met and the payroll service is provided in an accurate and timely manner.
- Perform the end-to-end payroll process of the fortnightly payroll, in the Payroll Manager’s absence
- Maintain accurate records and e-filing.
- Work as part of the overall HRSC team, assisting other teams during peak periods.
- Provide advice, mentoring and coaching to Payroll Officers to develop their skills and abilities in the role
- Assist in reviewing procedures to ensure efficiency of operations and that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Contribute to increasing the knowledge and capability of the HRSC through utilising opportunities for job rotation
- Attend training as required and be proactive in suggesting of improvements or training for the HRSC
- Participate in ongoing HRSC process improvement and various other projects, programs of work and committees to assist the HRSC align with the overall client’s strategic direction
- Carrying out responsibilities of the role in a manner consistent with the behavioural competencies of the HR Service Centre.
- Any other duties appropriate to the classification level as requested by the Payroll Manager
Education
- Other – An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Tertiary qualifications – In a relevant field
