The role:

The primary purpose of the Database Administrator is the management of the organisation’s Oracle and SQL databases to ensure secure access and availability in accordance with the needs of the business.

Manage enterprise databases for business application hosting and for development and testing environments, including database design; proactive database administration; backup and recovery planning and execution

Responsibilities:

  • Manage enterprise databases on Exadata appliances for business application hosting
  • Manage the Oracle and SQL Server patch
  • Backup databases and monitor backups so that any required restorations can be undertaken
  • Provide coverage for the other team responsibilities such as Linux/Unix administration, storage administration, Oracle and WebSphere middleware administration
  • Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate vendors and manage these in accordance with agreed service level agreements
  • Provides advice on technical aspects of database and report development
  • Monitor the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging database technologies

You will have

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Database Administrator
  • Extensive Oracle Database Experience: Proven expertise with Oracle Databases on Exadata Appliances
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle 19c, Data Guard, RAC, and ASM; Experience with monitoring tools e.g. Oracle Enterprise Manager
  • Capable of automating database tasks using SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux shell scripting
  • Demonstrated experience in the management, support, tuning and recovery of large scale databases
  • Knowledge of the ITIL framework is mandatory
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
