Talent International is partnering with a leading technology organisation to bring on a Senior OpenShift Platform Engineer for a major enterprise platform engagement.

You won’t simply be maintaining an existing OpenShift environment. You’ll help automate and evolve a Container-as-a-Service platform, working across Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Ansible, Argo CD, ZTP, ACM and advanced networking.

A key focus will be onboarding platform and cloud-native network functions (CNFs), while building the automation and standardisation needed to operate the environment effectively at scale.

You’ll work closely with architecture, network and automation specialists, giving you exposure across the broader platform rather than being restricted to one narrow area of OpenShift.

What you’ll be working on

  • Designing, building and automating Red Hat OpenShift platform components.
  • Developing automated, repeatable platform deployments using Ansible and Infrastructure as Code principles.
  • Building and implementing GitOps workflows using Argo CD.
  • Implementing Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) and declarative cluster lifecycle management.
  • Managing multi-cluster OpenShift environments using Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM).
  • Supporting the onboarding of cloud-native network functions, applications and platform tenants.
  • Engineering OpenShift networking across OVN-Kubernetes, MetalLB, BGP, Multus and SR-IOV.
  • Working across platform, infrastructure and networking layers to solve complex technical problems.
  • Supporting production and test environments, including troubleshooting, incident resolution, lifecycle management and patching.
  • Helping establish standards, documentation and automation that make the platform easier to operate and scale.
  • Sharing technical knowledge with internal engineering and operations teams.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a senior, hands-on platform engineer who is comfortable owning problems across OpenShift rather than operating within a narrowly defined support function.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Strong hands-on Red Hat OpenShift 4.x experience.
  • Strong Kubernetes platform engineering experience at enterprise scale.
  • Proven GitOps / Argo CD implementation experience.
  • Strong Ansible / Ansible Automation Platform capability.
  • Experience applying Infrastructure as Code and automation principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP).
  • Experience with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) and multi-cluster environments.
  • Deep OpenShift/Kubernetes networking knowledge, including OVN-Kubernetes, MetalLB, BGP, Multus and SR-IOV.
  • Strong Linux and Linux networking fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as OpenShift Platform Plus, Quay and OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF).

Even better if you have

Experience in telecommunications or with cloud-native network functions (CNFs) would be particularly valuable.

We’re also interested in experience across:

  • Air-gapped or disconnected OpenShift environments.
  • Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (ACS).
  • BGP, ACI, EVPN or broader data centre networking.
  • NUMA, DPDK and performance tuning.
  • Prometheus, Grafana and Alertmanager.
  • Storage, backup and supporting infrastructure technologies.

The details

This is an initial 100-day / approximately 3-month contract, with strong potential for extension.

You’ll be embedded within the customer environment in Macquarie Park, Sydney, working full-time onsite alongside the teams you’re supporting. There is currently no work-from-home component.

A September start is preferred.
