Senior Network Automation Engineer

A leading Australian financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer to help modernise the way large-scale networks are engineered and operated.

In this software-first role, you will design, deploy and enhance the platforms, automation frameworks and internal services that underpin modern network engineering. You will turn complex workflows into scalable, reliable solutions that improve efficiency and resilience.

Working closely with network engineers, you will solve operational challenges and strengthen automation and testing capabilities. In an AI-assisted environment, you will remain accountable for problem definition, critical review and end-to-end validation.

To be successful in this role you will need:

Experience building applications and automation solutions in the networking domain

Strong hands-on experience with Ansible and Terraform, including custom plugins/modules and infrastructure/configuration-as-code

Proficiency in Python or a similar language, with sound code review, pull request and problem-solving practices

Solid knowledge of Linux and container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes

Experience developing testing strategies for robust automation frameworks and platforms

Knowledge of build and packaging systems, dependency management and CI/CD pipelines, preferably Jenkins

Ability to write database queries and working knowledge of MongoDB

Strong collaboration skills and the ability to translate network challenges into reliable tools and services
