Our client, a leading university, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Workplace Behaviour & Conduct to lead a specialist complaints function within their Workplace Relations and Compliance team.
This role combines operational leadership with strategic oversight, focusing on managing complex staff-related complaints while driving proactive initiatives to strengthen workplace culture, compliance, and risk management.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of staff-related complaints including bullying, harassment, misconduct, and behavioural concerns
- Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on complex and sensitive matters, including legal and reputational risk
- Oversee investigations, ensuring fairness, consistency, and adherence to policy and legislative requirements
- Identify trends and systemic issues through data analysis, driving continuous improvement and prevention strategies
- Develop and enhance frameworks, policies, and processes related to workplace conduct and complaints management
- Lead and mentor a small team, ensuring high performance and professional development
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including HR, legal, and external investigators
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, including sector-wide programs such as gender-based violence compliance and prevention
- Support the development of reporting and insights, including the use of tools such as Power BI to inform decision-making
About you
- Extensive experience managing workplace investigations and complex complaints within a regulated environment
- Strong understanding of employment legislation, compliance, and risk management frameworks
- Experience operating at a senior level, providing advice to executive stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage sensitive, high-risk matters with sound judgement
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and drive improvements
- Background in higher education, government, or similarly complex environments is highly regarded
- Experience with data, reporting, or insights tools such as Power BI is advantageous
