Senior Java Developer

Our client is a global software organisation with an office in Melbourne. Due to an exciting new project, they are seeking multiple Java Developers.

  • 6 month contract, potential to extend
  • Rates fully negotiable depending on experience
  • South Melbourne location plus hybrid work-from-home

Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate to clarify requirements, especially in terms of testability, consistency, and completeness
  • Collaborate with the team to define solutions to requirements.
  • Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
  • Analyse and resolve technical and application problems.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits
  • Assist with testing to meet committed project deliverables.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Prerequisite Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of enterprise software design skills in Java
  • Experience with Springboot
  • Tertiary Degree in Computer Science, Software Development/Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Solid experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs.
  • Skills with Source Management (Git, TFS, etc), build scripting (Gradle, Maven, Make), and build servers Bamboo/Jenkins.
  • Hands on experience with databases – Oracle (including PL/SQL), Postgres, MS SQL Server, (NoSQL like Mongo a bonus)
  • Used source control management systems and continuous integration (CI)/deployment environments (CD)
  • Unit Testing & Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes a plus
  • Worked with *nix based operating systems
  • Exposure to JIRA or similar issue tracker
  • Knowledge of web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks (JQuery, AngularJS, React).
  • Exposure to case management, workflow and BPM would be highly regarded (specifically Pega Systems). (not required but useful)
  • Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization
  • Practiced Agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum
