Senior Data Engineer (EDW)
Contract: 12 months
Location: Sydney, NSW (Hybrid – minimum 3 days onsite)
Rate: Up to $900/day
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Citizenship: Australian citizens only
About the Role
We are seeking two Senior Data Engineers (EDW) to join a critical enterprise data warehouse program. You will work on designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, reusable data solutions, collaborating closely with business stakeholders and technical teams. This role provides the opportunity to influence best practices in data modelling, ETL/ELT development, and DevOps-driven delivery.
You will be responsible for end-to-end technical implementation of new data solutions, from analysis to delivery, while supporting knowledge transfer and mentoring within the team. This role is ideal for experienced data engineers who enjoy hands-on development and shaping enterprise-level data platforms.
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across EDW design, development, and deployment

Implement EDW core layer data integration using 3NF transformation logic and access layers

Develop and enhance reusable ETL/ELT patterns

Review and approve data designs, models, and release processes

Optimise and tune SQL for performance and scalability

Own technical delivery from analysis to deployment, including data dictionaries and documentation

Establish peer review, coding, modelling, and release standards

Facilitate knowledge transfer and best-practice workshops

Work within a modern DevOps / CI/CD environment

Collaborate with data consumers, developers, testers, and support teams
Essential Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate experience in all of the following:
-
4+ years’ experience in a senior data engineering or EDW role

Strong programming capability, including SQL and Python
-
Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Teradata, or another market-leading EDW platform
-
Solid understanding of DevOps processes and tools
-
Experience with CI/CD and version control (e.g., GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket)
Desirable Criteria

Contributing to and maintaining enterprise information models

Delivering consumable datasets for reporting and analytics

Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills

Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
Working Arrangements

Hybrid model: minimum 3 days onsite per week in Sydney, flexible for remaining days
