About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer to drive the delivery of secure, scalable, and automated cloud solutions within a highly regulated environment.

In this role, you will lead the implementation of modern cloud infrastructure using Microsoft Azure, Terraform (Infrastructure as Code), and CI/CD pipelines. You will work closely with architecture and security teams to translate high-level designs into robust, compliant solutions aligned with Australian defence and security frameworks.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll play a key part in uplifting cloud capability, embedding best practices, and enabling organisation-wide cloud adoption.

Mandatory Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Current Baseline, NV1 or NV2 security clearance
  • Ability to Meet ITAR access requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver Azure-based cloud solutions aligned to Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Well-Architected Framework (WAF)
  • Build and manage Azure Landing Zones using Terraform
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps
  • Implement secure, compliant cloud environments aligned with PSPF, ISM, and ASD guidelines
  • Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end automated solutions
  • Drive cost optimisation (FinOps) initiatives across cloud platforms
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to delivery teams
  • Deliver training and uplift capability in Terraform and Azure technologies

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure (networking, compute, storage, identity, governance, containers/AKS)
  • Proven experience with Terraform (modular design, state management, automation)
  • Solid background in DevOps practices (CI/CD, pipelines, repos, release management)
  • Strong understanding of cloud security and compliance
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell or Bash)
  • Experience working with Git/version control

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Industry certifications highly regarded (Azure, DevOps, Terraform)
