Position Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Cloud and Automation Engineer to support the delivery ofscalable, secure and resilient cloud automation solutions within a complex government environment. This role is responsible for designing and implementing automated cloud-based solutions that support PROTECTED capabilities, strengthen operational resilience, and enhance system performance. Working closely with internal stakeholders, the successful candidate will contribute to improving cloud utilisation, driving efficiencies, and ensuring secure, cost-effective infrastructure outcomes.
Key Duties
- Identify and implement automation opportunities across software and business processes.
- Develop, test and maintain automation scripts for databases, systems, networks and applications.
- Design and execute automated quality assurance testing using appropriate tools and scripts.
- Identify and resolve defects and quality issues throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Design and implement automated cloud-based infrastructure solutions using infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Manage and maintain complex cloud environments, including implementing security controls to protect data.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency through automation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of cloud-based and cloud-enabled capabilities.
Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming and scripting skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies and tools.
- Experience using automation tools and frameworks.
- Strong understanding of software development and system testing methodologies.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems and perform detailed testing.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
- Current Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance is required.
