Senior Business Architect – Finance ERP & Transformation (Oracle/ SAP/ Workday)

  • Location: Canberra (Hybrid)
  • Contract Length: Initial Contract until 30th June, 2027

About the Position:

This isn’t a role focused on documenting current-state processes.

It’s about designing how a future government finance function should operate.

Working within a major enterprise transformation program, you’ll lead the development of the future-state Target Operating Model (TOM), defining business capabilities, governance, service delivery models and end-to-end finance value streams that will shape long-term organisational outcomes

You’ll work across multiple business areas to simplify and harmonise finance processes, establish business governance, and ensure future requirements are driven by business outcomes rather than legacy technology constraints. From procurement support through to business readiness, you’ll play a key role in ensuring business design and solution delivery remain aligned throughout the transformation.

If you enjoy bringing structure to complexity, influencing enterprise-wide business design and shaping sustainable operating models that support long-term transformation, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the development of the future-state Finance Target Operating Model, including business capabilities, governance, organisational design and service delivery models.
  • Design and harmonise enterprise finance value streams, business capabilities and end-to-end business processes across multiple business areas.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops to define outcome-focused business requirements, business rules and future-state operating models.
  • Work closely with architecture, procurement, change and delivery teams to ensure business design supports successful implementation and long-term organisational outcomes.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Demonstrated experience leading Business Architecture or Target Operating Model design across large-scale transformation programs.
  • Strong background in finance transformation, business capability modelling, value stream design and enterprise business process architecture.
  • Experience facilitating executive stakeholders, building consensus and leading business design governance across complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of ERP-enabled business transformation, with experience working across enterprise platforms such as SAP, Oracle, TechnologyOne or Workday from a business architecture perspective.

Technology & Environment:

  • Business Architecture & Target Operating Models (TOM)
  • Business Capability Modelling, Value Streams & Business Process Design
  • ERP Transformation (SAP, Oracle, TechnologyOne, Workday)
  • BIZBOK®, TOGAF, BPMN & Enterprise Business Design

A Quick Note Before You Apply:

This role is unlikely to suit Business Analysts or Process Analysts whose experience has focused primarily on documenting requirements or improving individual business processes without broader ownership of enterprise business architecture and operating model design

Success in this role comes from balancing strategic business thinking with governance, stakeholder engagement and enterprise design to create operating models that support long-term organisational transformation.

This is a hybrid Canberra-based engagement supporting a major enterprise finance transformation program.
