The Role:

A prominent national regulatory body that ensures market integrity is seeking a experienced Senior Technical Business Analyst. This role is part of a significant multi-year transformation program within a high-profile federal initiative, focused on delivering digital services, improving transparency, and strengthening regulatory systems.

As a Senior Technical Business Analyst within the program you will play a critical role in bridging business needs with technical solutions. Your work will contribute directly to improving processes, driving digital transformation, and enhancing operational efficiency across a broad program of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complex business requirements.
  • Apply a technical lens to business problems, facilitating workshops and stakeholder discussions.
  • Develop and document high-quality business, functional, and non-functional requirements (e.g. user stories) that are easily consumable by stakeholders from technical, business, and testing disciplines.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior BAs where appropriate to ensure overall delivery success.
  • Design user interfaces using User-Centred Design (UCD) principles, ensuring compliance with Australian Government accessibility and usability standards.
  • Map current-state and future-state processes using BPMN and similar methodologies.
  • Contribute to test planning, UAT preparation, system implementation, and user training material development.
  • Maintain accountability for delivering to project timelines and contributing to strategic priorities.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in business analysis within large-scale IT transformation or government programs.
  • Strong grasp of systems development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and user-centric design.
  • Proficiency in requirements elicitation, process modelling (BPMN), data modelling, and enterprise analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels.
  • Leadership capability to support and guide junior analysts.
  • Analytical and critical thinking capabilities to evaluate data and identify trends, risks, and insights.
  • Experience with tools such as SAS, Microsoft Dynamics, Java-based systems, Siebel/Oracle Fusion, Peoplesoft, and Data Warehousing (highly desirable).

Additional Requirements:

Due to the nature of this government program, must be Australian Citizen and eligible to undergo a Baseline security clearance.
