A federal government agency at the forefront of delivering services to millions of Australians is seeking a senior Automation Tester to help ensure its critical digital platforms perform reliably and to a high standard. In this role, you’ll be embedded in an Agile multi-disciplinary team, driving test automation strategy and quality outcomes across complex, large-scale systems. Your work will directly contribute to technology that makes a tangible difference in people’s everyday lives.

Your duties will include:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining automation test frameworks and scripts within a fast-paced Agile environment
  • Developing and leading the overall automation testing strategy, including selecting appropriate test cases from existing documentation
  • Creating and executing complex test cases, and documenting, tracking, and escalating defects using tools such as HP ALM Quality Centre
  • Collaborating closely with developers, manual testers, and subject matter experts to understand system functionality and business requirements
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on testing methods, tools, and standards, including reviewing the work of colleagues
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to build capability, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across tools and processes

Skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Hands-on automation test development experience, with strong skills in building and maintaining automated test scripts
  • Demonstrated experience with test management and automation tooling, including platforms such as HP ALM Quality Centre
  • Exposure to containerisation and DevOps practices, including Docker/Kubernetes and GitLab CI or equivalent CI/CD pipelines
  • Proven ability to design and execute acceptance testing across functional and non-functional requirements, including collaboration with stakeholders to ensure comprehensive coverage
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide authoritative advice and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
