Security Network Engineer

Talent International is searching for an experienced Security Network Engineer to join a leading rail freight company based in Fortitude Valley on an initial 6-month contract, with strong extension potential.

The role:
You will join the Cyber Security Transformation Program and Infrastructure Team to deliver key infrastructure and security projects, helping the organisation achieve its cyber maturity objectives. The role focuses on securing enterprise networks, managing connectivity solutions, and supporting incident response and compliance across cloud and on-prem environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage secure connectivity solutions including VPNs, firewalls, cloud gateways, and application delivery technologies
  • Perform system administration and maintenance of network security platforms
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, continuous monitoring, and respond to security incidents
  • Deliver connectivity services in line with SLAs and IT Service Management frameworks
  • Maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and roadmaps to support business evolution
  • Provide user training and support on secure connectivity practices
  • Partner with technical teams to ensure secure integration across cloud and on-prem environments

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in network security roles within large enterprise environments
  • Tertiary qualification in IT, Networking, Engineering, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNP, CCIE, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or vendor certifications (Palo Alto, CheckPoint, F5, Cisco)
  • Strong skills in Cisco switching/routing, Meraki, Azure networking, API security, and VPN gateway configuration
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell, Python, or iRule for automation and integration
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations
