Security Engineer - Offensive (Red / Purple Team)

We’re partnering with a major enterprise organisation undertaking a significant cyber security uplift and are seeking an experienced Security Engineer (Red / Purple Team) to help validate and strengthen security controls through real-world adversary simulation.

This role sits at the intersection of offensive security, threat-informed defence and detection engineering. You’ll emulate sophisticated attack techniques, identify critical security gaps and work closely with security and engineering teams to ensure those gaps are remediated and validated.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead red team and purple team engagements across critical applications, infrastructure and cloud environments
• Build and maintain red team tooling and infrastructure
• Validate security controls, detections and logging capabilities through real-world attack simulation
• Identify security gaps and help drive remediation outcomes
• Own and mature Breach & Attack Simulation (BAS) capabilities
• Use AI-enabled techniques to scale attack path analysis and prioritise meaningful security exposures
• Partner with engineering teams to implement new detections, controls and telemetry sources
• Support threat-informed defence initiatives aligned to the MITRE ATT&CK framework

What You’ll Bring

Essential

• Strong hands-on offensive security experience including adversary emulation, C2 operations and exploitation
• Experience assessing attack paths across cloud, infrastructure and endpoint environments
• Strong understanding of detection engineering, security monitoring and logging
• Breach & Attack Simulation (BAS) experience
• Deep knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework
• Python scripting and automation skills
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and reporting capabilities

Highly Desirable

• Experience with AI-assisted security tooling including GPT, Codex, Claude Code, Copilot or similar
• GitLab Ultimate and AI-assisted code analysis environments
• Detection engineering experience
• Application Security experience including SAST, DAST and SCA
