Join a high-impact ERP transformation program supporting mission-critical operations in the Australian defence sector. We’re seeking an experienced SAP Implementation Project Manager to lead the business-side delivery of a complex SAP ERP rollout, ensuring the solution is fit-for-purpose, strategically aligned, and fully embedded across operational teams.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of business process, stakeholder engagement, and vendor oversight-bringing clarity, independence, and momentum to a high-stakes implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Alignment & Solution Fit

  • Translate operational processes into clear, actionable requirements for the System Integrator (SI)
  • Validate SAP configurations and customisations against business strategy and real-world workflows
  • Ensure business needs remain central-avoiding purely technical or vendor-driven delivery

Governance & Independent Oversight

  • Represent the organisation in program governance forums
  • Maintain independent reporting to the 1LMXi team, separate from vendor narratives
  • Monitor SI performance, delivery risks, and compliance with contractual obligations

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Act as the primary liaison between the SI and internal business stakeholders
  • Drive local delivery milestones, integration points, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Facilitate workshops, design reviews, and issue resolution across business units
  • Ensure full scope delivery and successful handover to support teams

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management

  • Engage early with business leaders, process owners, and end-users to capture critical requirements
  • Build readiness for change through clear communication, training coordination, and user adoption strategies
  • Support knowledge transfer from SI to internal teams for long-term SAP sustainability
  • Liaise with US-based product owners to secure key artefacts and enablers

Quality Assurance & Testing

  • Coordinate business-side participation in system testing, UAT, and go-live readiness
  • Validate that delivered functionality meets acceptance criteria and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with audit and quality teams to ensure documentation and deliverables meet expectations

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify and escalate risks, issues, and opportunities specific to local business processes
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance and quality assurance protocols throughout the project lifecycle

HyperCare Leadership

  • Lead the post-go-live HyperCare phase, ensuring operational stability and defect resolution
  • Prioritise fixes based on business impact, not just technical urgency
  • Maintain clear communication with end-users to reduce change fatigue and build confidence
  • Capture lessons learned to inform future rollouts and support models

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Must be an Australian Citizen with Baseline or higher AGSVA security clearance (mandatory)
  • Extensive experience managing SAP ERP implementations into complex enterprise size organisations
  • Strong understanding of business processes and how they map to SAP modules
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to operate independently of vendors and drive business-first outcomes
  • Experience working across multiple time zones and with international stakeholders
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project)
  • Demonstrated capability in risk management, change facilitation, and benefit tracking
