Location: Sydney (100% on-site)
Work Pattern: Rotating shift roster (morning, afternoon, night)
Start: Immediate or As soon as possible
Salary: $120k-150k base
About the Role
We’re looking for a Transmission Core Technical Specialist to join a high-performing Tier 2 Network Operations team, ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and availability of our transport network.
This is a hands-on role with a critical focus on incident, problem, and change management, supporting network operations and service assurance while collaborating closely with vendors, managed service providers, and internal engineering teams.
What you’ll do:
- Rapidly resolve complex network faults and manage critical incident escalations to minimise customer impact.
- Lead Problem Management activities, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation with suppliers and vendors.
- Improve network reliability, reduce fault rates, and protect revenue by driving service improvements.
- Advise on network expansions, upgrades, and new technologies, ensuring designs meet operational and service quality standards.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert in Change Advisory Board (CAB) reviews and guide business partners on network architecture.
- Analyse performance data, support automation initiatives, and improveimprove network monitoring tools.
- Manage technical training, security certifications, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What we’re looking for:
- Professional qualifications in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related Science field.
- Extensive hands-on experience with multi-vendor Long-Haul and Metro DWDM networks (e.g., Nokia, Infinera, Huawei).
- Strong understanding of DWDM technologies including ROADM, TOADM, and Optical Amplifiers.
- Proven ability to support multi-vendor technologies in busybusy operational environments, including incident resolution and escalation.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset across technical teams and business partners.
