Project Support Officer
- Location: Canberra, ACT
- Security Clearance: NV1 (Mandatory)
- Contract Length: 9 months + 15 months extensions (subject to Departmental discretion)
The Department is seeking two experienced Cyber Cooperation Project Officers to join the Cyber and Critical Technology Branch (CYB). These roles will help deliver Australia’s advancing cyber resilience and critical technology capacity building across Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
Key responsibilities of the position:
- Manage end-to-end delivery of strategic cyber and critical technology projects.
- Plan, design, and implement initiatives to uplift regional cyber security and resilience capabilities.
- Develop and manage project documentation, including funding approvals, contracts, and grant agreements.
- Oversee project delivery partners and track progress through monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
- Provide expert advice on project management, risk management, and program delivery.
- Support coordination of policy briefs, public diplomacy activities, and ministerial or ambassadorial delegations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across government, industry, civil society, and partner countries to achieve shared outcomes.
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience managing complex strategic or client-funded programs.
- Strong understanding of contemporary cyber and critical technology policy issues.
- Demonstrated ability to design conceptual frameworks and translate them into practical capacity-building initiatives.
- Sound judgement, adaptability, and the ability to operate effectively in high-tempo, multi-agency environments.
- Experience in stakeholder management at senior and international levels, with exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Expertise in project lifecycle planning, complex problem solving, and issues management.
Desirable skills & experience:
- Background in Southeast Asian or Pacific regional programs or cyber/critical technology policy.
- Prior work with Australian Government agencies, multilateral partners, or international organisations.
- Experience drafting and managing contracts, grants, or procurement documentation in line with Commonwealth frameworks.
