Senior Project Manager – Data Migration (Contract)

The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead a complex data migration project as part of a large-scale system implementation for a prominent New Zealand enterprise.
You’ll be responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of the data migration workstream – ensuring that data is securely and accurately transferred to a new system, with integrity maintained throughout the process.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Own the delivery of the data migration workstream
  • Coordinate efforts between internal data engineers, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure a smooth and secure migration of critical data, with strong controls for validation and reconciliation
  • Track and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and milestones with transparency and confidence
  • Provide clear and consistent communication to project sponsors and stakeholders at all levels
  • Contribute to rollout and implementation plans, go/no-go decisions, and post-migration reviews

To be successful, you will need:

  • 10+ years of project management experience in technology change environments
  • Proven success leading data migration projects, ideally in complex or regulated environments
  • Strong grasp of data quality assurance and reconciliation practices
  • Ability to navigate and lead in a multi-vendor and cross-functional setting
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and SQL fundamentals
  • Experience delivering large-scale digital or customer-facing platforms a plus
  • Strong leadership, planning, and decision-making skills – able to anticipate issues before they arise.
