Project Manager | Federal Government | Large-Scale Digital Transformation

• Location: ACT (Hybrid)
• Security Clearance: Baseline Clearance (Mandatory)
• Contract Length: 12 months + 24-month extension options (until 21 December 2028, at Department’s discretion)

Our client is a major Federal Government agency driving one of Australia’s largest digital transformation programs. They are undergoing modernising legacy systems, strengthening digital service delivery, and leveraging technology to improve outcomes for millions of Australians. This engagement will strengthen their internal ICT and digital workforce, ensuring flexibility and capability uplift across multiple strategic programs.

Key responsibilities of the position:

• Manage and deliver complex ICT projects with organisation-wide impact.

• Develop, implement, and maintain project plans, schedules, and governance structures aligned to the agency’s project management framework.

• Oversee delivery milestones, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

• Lead project teams, drive performance outcomes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

• Manage financials, budgets, procurement, and contract processes.

• Engage and manage key stakeholders across business and technical divisions, providing expert advice and reporting.

• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues while ensuring quality standards are met.

• Prepare business cases, reports, executive briefs, and project documentation for senior leadership.

• Support innovation, lead change initiatives, and contribute to agency-wide transformation strategies.

• Represent the agency in external and cross-agency forums and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience managing medium to large-scale ICT projects in complex government or enterprise environments.

• Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, financial management, and stakeholder engagement.

• Practical experience applying structured project management frameworks and methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile).

Desirable skills & experience:

• Experience in federal government ICT project environments, particularly within service delivery or transformation programs.

• Familiarity with the SFIA framework, particularly across financial management, project management, and stakeholder relationship management domains.

• Relevant certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, or AgilePM highly regarded.
