
Project Manager
Our client is a leading company within the utilities industry, who is looking to bring on a Project Manager to work within the Major Projects teams, largely delivering Data Centre Projects connecting into Sub Transmission Power in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have previously delivered projects within a value of $10M-$50M and have experience in High Voltage zone substation or transmission construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of major projects to meet time, budget, safety, quality, and compliance targets.
- Manage internal teams and subcontractors to ensure effective resource use and project execution.
- Administer contracts and tenders to support project delivery and ensure contractual compliance.
- Oversee project finances and risks through accurate forecasting, cost control, and mitigation planning.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to align project outcomes with customer and business needs.
- Define and negotiate project scopes to ensure feasibility, system compatibility, and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and report on project performance to keep all parties informed and accountable.
- Promote continuous improvement and leadership through proactive development and issue resolution.
- Implement and enhance project management systems to drive continuous improvement and efficiency across operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and contractual standards across all internal and contractor activities.
- Promote efficient, cost-effective work practices that support network reliability, quality, and environmental goals.
Key Requirements
- A Tertiary Qualification in an Engineering or associated area/ discipline
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, with practical experience delivering complex projects in electrical distribution or infrastructure.
- Proven experience in people management, with the ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- In-depth understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and governance in project environments.
- Extensive industry knowledge of electricity distribution, sub-transmission, and infrastructure, including relevant construction practices and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to use SAP and project management tools, including estimating and reporting systems.
- Experience in planning project schedules, assessing risks, resource needs, and integrating construction methodologies.
- Ability to apply construction methodology during the planning phase to ensure effective execution and integration.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant project management experience, with eligibility or accreditation as a Certified Practising Project Manager (CPPM).
