Program Manager (Higher Education) – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead the design, delivery, and implementation of a major strategic initiative within the Global Education space. This role is focused on building a sustainable, revenue-generating model that will contribute to the university’s long-term vision.

You will provide expert program management oversight, ensuring strong governance, stakeholder engagement, and delivery of measurable outcomes. The role suits someone from a Business Analyst background who has moved into program management, thrives in ambiguity, and excels at driving complex projects forward in a higher education environment.

This is a hybrid role, with on-site presence required Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure successful delivery of the program, aligned with the university’s objectives

  • Develop and manage integrated program plans covering timelines, budgets, risks, interdependencies, and change

  • Establish and facilitate working groups, driving activity timelines, outputs, and communication across academic and professional services teams

  • Ensure program governance, reporting, and delivery align with institutional standards

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team including Business Analysts and a Change Manager, fostering a high-performance culture

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of program workstreams, ensuring robust business cases and measurable outcomes

  • Drive stakeholder engagement with senior leaders, committees, and external partners through clear communication and reporting

  • Facilitate workshops and engagement activities to support program design, delivery, and adoption of change

  • Monitor risks, dependencies, and market trends, proactively implementing mitigation strategies

  • Champion continuous improvement, agility, and adaptability throughout the program lifecycle

Skills and Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience

  • Proven experience as a Program Manager in a complex, dynamic organisation

  • Strong background in business analysis, governance, and process improvement, with progression into program management

  • Substantial experience in program management methodologies and techniques

  • Demonstrated experience within a university or higher education environment – applicants without this will not be considered

  • Experience leading and motivating agile, multidisciplinary teams

  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguity, problem-solve, and adapt to changing priorities

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience preparing executive-level reports and proposals

  • Financial management experience, including budget oversight and control

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and present persuasively

  • Commitment to health, safety, and compliance policies
