The Role: The Program Director will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of a complex regulatory compliance program within a large, essential services organisation. Leading a multidisciplinary team, you will own the program strategy, establish robust governance frameworks, drive disciplined reporting and risk management, and ensure all commitments are embedded into business-as-usual operations – strengthening the organisation’s regulatory credibility and customer trust.

Key Responsibilties:

  • Own and lead the overall program delivery strategy – ensuring all commitments are clearly defined, governed, tracked, and achieved.
  • Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, including decision rights, escalation pathways, assurance mechanisms, and proactive risk management.
  • Lead strategic engagement with regulators and senior leadership, maintaining transparent, proactive, and credible relationships.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality reporting on program progress, risks, and outcomes – developing dashboards and frameworks that provide genuine assurance and decision support.
  • Provide exceptional people leadership, driving team performance, a culture of accountability, and continuous improvement aligned to program commitments and organisational values.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience leading complex, high-risk programs or portfolios in regulated environments, with a deep understanding of governance, compliance, and assurance frameworks.
  • Extensive experience preparing and presenting Board and executive-level reporting and briefings, with the ability to engage, influence, and negotiate at the highest levels.
  • Strong people leadership experience (5+ years) leading senior leaders and/or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Governance, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Enforceable Undertakings or formal regulatory undertakings, ideally within utilities, water, energy, or public sector environments (desirable).
