A leading Australian bank is seeking a Principal Mainframe Networking Specialist to join their team on an initial 12 month contract (with good potential of extension).

Joining a large Mainframe team, you will lead technical strategy and operations for their complex mainframe environment. Responsibilities will include leading the mainframe networking services, managing vendor partnerships, and providing expert technical guidance across the organisation. You’ll drive continuous improvement initiatives, validate technical implementations, and ensure mainframe infrastructure remains fit for purpose in a flexible financial services environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll combine deep mainframe expertise with strategic thinking to solve complex technical challenges, mentor teams, and shape mainframe infrastructure standards across the enterprise.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications with relevant industry certifications
  • Proven experience working in mainframe networking roles supporting SNA and TCP/IP environments
  • Expert knowledge of mainframe environments
  • Advanced Enterprise Extender, Policy Agent, and Distributed DVIPA skills
  • Expert knowledge of TCP, OSPF, IP, and TLS protocols
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
