Working within a highly regarded science team, you’ll play a key role in researching, analysing and communicating complex environmental information. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys science writing, stakeholder engagement and contributing to meaningful environmental outcomes. It is a VPS 4 contract role through to mid December 2026.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Science and Reporting, you will support the delivery of major environmental reporting projects by preparing technical content, proofreading scientific publications and synthesising complex information for a range of audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality scientific reports, briefings and technical content for major environmental reporting projects.
  • Proofread and edit complex scientific documents, ensuring consistency, accuracy and adherence to style guides.
  • Analyse environmental data and research, translating technical information into clear, accessible content.
  • Collaborate with scientists, researchers and subject matter experts to develop evidence-based reports.
  • Build productive relationships with stakeholders across government, academia, industry, Traditional Owners and community organisations.

You will ideally have:

  • Qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in science writing, technical writing or preparing research publications.
  • Exceptional written communication, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong analytical and research capability, including interpreting scientific data and literature.
  • Experience managing projects, coordinating deliverables and meeting deadlines.
  • An understanding of environmental policy, sustainability or natural resource management is highly regarded.
