
Policy and Advocacy Consultant
We’re looking for a Policy & Advocacy specialist to support the delivery of the advocacy and policy strategy for our client. This is contract role where you’ll be supporting the delivery of the advocacy and policy strategy around New Zealand
You will be working with an awesome charity advocating for Men’s mental health.
This is a 6 month contract that offers flexible working arrangements within NZ.
About the Role
You’ll be an expert in Policy and Advocacy support having worked for both Government and a Corporate or Not for profit environment. You’ll be able to speak to all levels of stakeholders from Government Officials to your internal team.
- Operationalising our client’s advocacy and policy strategy through targeted initiatives and stakeholder engagement
- Contributing to the development of a strategy for partnerships with government and officials, researchers, clinical stakeholders, corporates and NGOs
- Coordinating events and engagements with healthcare professionals and health organisations to promote their policy positions
- Draft and support the development of submissions, policy briefs, and briefing materials for government agencies and inquiries
- Working with the internal media and engagement teams to align public campaigns with advocacy priorities
- Collaborating with internal research and data teams to identify research needs and support evaluation of advocacy impact
- Manage relevant contracting and procurement processes as required.
About You
We’re seeking someone with a proven track record in policy, advocacy or public affairs environments. You’ll also:
- Be able to produce well thought out, high quality written outputs (briefs, submissions, policy memos)
- Have excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management abilities
- Be capable of working independently and manage multiple priorities well
- Have an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in a health and policy setting
- Have political nous and an excellent understanding of the political landscape.
- Experience from the NGO sector, men’s or community health, would be a bonus.
