Planning Enforcement Officer

We are seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to join a local government team on a contract basis. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with planning legislation, investigating land use and development matters, and supporting the effective administration of the Planning Scheme.

6 months contract role with possible extensions.

Key responsibilities

  • Triage and investigate planning complaints, conduct site inspections, and assess compliance with planning permits and legislation
  • Gather and document evidence (site visits, photographs, stakeholder discussions) and maintain accurate records in Council systems
  • Provide specialist planning and enforcement advice to internal stakeholders and the public
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation

About you

  • Experience in planning investigations, enforcement, or statutory planning within a local government or similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of planning legislation and enforcement processes in Victoria
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage conflict and engage stakeholders effectively
  • Valid white card certification
