Planning Enforcement Officer
We are seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to join a local government team on a contract basis. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with planning legislation, investigating land use and development matters, and supporting the effective administration of the Planning Scheme.
6 months contract role with possible extensions.
Key responsibilities
- Triage and investigate planning complaints, conduct site inspections, and assess compliance with planning permits and legislation
- Gather and document evidence (site visits, photographs, stakeholder discussions) and maintain accurate records in Council systems
- Provide specialist planning and enforcement advice to internal stakeholders and the public
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation
About you
- Experience in planning investigations, enforcement, or statutory planning within a local government or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation and enforcement processes in Victoria
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage conflict and engage stakeholders effectively
- Valid white card certification
