Reporting to the Manager, Permissioning Licences, you will play a key role in assessing applications for environmentally regulated activities, ensuring they meet legislative requirements and contribute to reducing risks to human health and the environment.

Working within a collaborative team, you will undertake technical assessments, prepare clear and concise assessment reports, manage administrative processes, and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders both internally and externally. It is a 3 months contract role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess environmental permission applications in accordance with relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Review technical information and make informed recommendations based on environmental risks and impacts.
  • Prepare high-quality assessment reports and supporting documentation.
  • Manage administrative processes associated with permission assessments.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with applicants, industry representatives, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the delivery of consistent, risk-based environmental regulation outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Sound knowledge of environmental management, environmental protection, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical, judgement and decision-making skills, particularly in relation to environmental matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and communicate complex information effectively.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering quality outcomes in a regulatory environment.
