An exciting opportunity exists for experienced regulatory, planning, environmental, or approvals professionals to join a high-performing team responsible for assessing and managing environmental permissions.

We are seeking multiple Permissioning Officers at both VPS3 and VPS5 levels. These roles play a critical part in supporting development assessment and approval processes, ensuring applications are assessed consistently, efficiently, and in accordance with legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess applications and provide recommendations in line with legislative and policy requirements.
  • Manage a portfolio of applications and approvals while balancing competing priorities.
  • Liaise with applicants, stakeholders, and internal subject matter experts to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Prepare technical reports, assessments, recommendations, and correspondence.

At the VPS5 level, you will also:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
  • Undertake peer reviews and contribute to capability development.
  • Manage more complex assessments and stakeholder matters.
  • Support planning, prioritisation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.

You will bring:

  • Experience assessing applications, permits, licences, approvals, or similar regulatory processes.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017
  • Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
