Opportunity/role

Our client is a government organisation based in the eastern suburbs. They have an exciting opportunity available for a Payroll Team Leader with strong Frontier Software/Chris21/iChris experience to take on leadership duties and manage payroll processing and administration, time and attendance, and provide input to process and system improvements.

Responsiblities

Your role will include:

  • Supervise and assist in the preparation, processing, maintenance and distribution of payroll data, ensuring at all times the integrity of the process and function
  • Supervise, train, encourage and enhance the skills of the Payroll Officers
  • Prepare and monitor the organisation’s Salary & Associated Costs Budget (including FBT)
  • Ensure that all payroll transactions are accurately costed to the correct business units
  • Ensure all General Ledger Reconciliations are completed within the accounting timetable
  • Ensure that historical data regarding payroll records is maintained, stored and recoverable as and when required, in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Ensure adequate WorkCover records are kept and liaise with the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator regarding WorkCover matters when necessary
  • Reconcile and pay Superannuation fund contributions on a regular basis
  • Respond to queries in an effective, efficient and timely manner
  • Keep up to date with developments, legislation and regulations relevant to the requirements of the position

About you

  • Proven experience in a similar role gained either in Local Government or an equivalent sized organisation (approximately 1000 employees)
  • Payroll management or supervision experience, ability to lead, coordinate, and upskill team members
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, awards interpretation, time & attendance, etc.
  • Strong system knowledge and experience with Chris21/iChris
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work closely with processing and systems teams, and engage with stakeholders
  • Available to start at relatively short notice

If successful, you will be required to undergo a police check, and maintain or obtain a Working with Childrens Check (WWCC)
