They are seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator / Lead to manage the payroll function whilst the organisation goes through a system implementation. The successful candidate may be required to work closely with the system implementation team to ensure a smooth transition.

Your new role:

Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture this role will see you provide leadership to the Payroll Team ensuring end-to-end processing of payroll and superannuation for approximately 1,600 employees is completed.

  • Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team by ensuring operational excellence and a focus on employee experience, whilst promoting continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in payroll and employee remuneration related projects, with a focus on successful system upgrades and/or implementation.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate processing, including data entry, verification, and distribution of payslips or direct deposits while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • In partnership with the Manager, People and Culture and Employee Relations, investigate and resolve complex payroll issues considering current agreements, awards, and relevant industrial legislation, and provide advice to employees/management and People and Culture.
  • Lead and direct the payroll response to audits conducted by the Queensland Audit Office and Internal Audit and ensure remediation actions are completed in a timely manner.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Demonstrated success managing a Payroll Team.
  • Extensive experience in a medium to large payroll environment.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant industrial awards, agreements, and legislation’s applicable to payroll.
  • Previous experience supporting large organisations through system implementation, highly regarded, however, may not be essential.
  • Systems exposure to Workday HCM, Aurion, Kronos, EC Payroll, and / or SAP SuccessFactors would be advantageous.
  • Full-time availability from Monday – Friday January 2026 – July 2026.
