  • Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance
  • Strong Objectstar Development, COBOL and JCL experience required, ideally with legacy modernisation and large-scale government systems experience

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Objectstar Software Engineer to contribute to the delivery and ongoing enhancement of critical government platforms that support millions of Australians. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining complex enterprise systems while helping modernise and strengthen essential digital services.

Your duties will include:

  • Designing and developing complex software solutions and technical components
  • Writing high-quality, maintainable code and supporting long-term application sustainability
  • Performing analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance activities
  • Providing technical advice and guidance across software development initiatives
  • Supporting system deployments, releases and production environments
  • Investigating and resolving complex technical issues and risks
  • Collaborating with architects, analysts, testers and delivery teams to deliver successful outcomes

Skills and Experience we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience with Objectstar Development, COBOL and JCL
  • Strong software development and systems integration experience in large enterprise environments
  • Experience designing, developing, testing and deploying complex applications
  • Knowledge of software configuration management, release processes and deployment practices
  • Ability to produce technical designs and contribute to solution architecture activities
  • Experience working within structured software development methodologies and standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex ICT issues
