This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Development Expert to lead the delivery of high-impact, enterprise-scale software solutions supporting essential services for Australians. You will provide technical leadership across complex Objectstar environments, driving innovation, uplifting development practices, and ensuring the delivery of secure, high-quality systems aligned with modern software engineering standards.

Your duties will include:

  • Leading the design, development and support of complex Objectstar applications and migration activities
  • Driving software strategy to ensure maintainable, secure and high-quality codebases
  • Overseeing release planning, deployment, go-live support and production stability
  • Providing authoritative technical advice across software development, configuration and integration
  • Leading analysis, prototyping, testing and issue resolution within development and production environments
  • Managing stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation and contributing to strategic workforce and capability planning

Skills and Experience we are looking for:

  • Proven expertise in Objectstar development, including data migration and code transformation, supported by strong COBOL and JCL capability
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex software design and systems integration initiatives at enterprise scale
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, configuration management and release frameworks
  • Experience implementing secure development practices and aligning with cyber security policies
  • Ability to provide specialist technical advice and influence architectural and design decisions
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work independently under broad direction
