We are seeking an ADABAS Natural Developer who is open to training and transitioning into an ADABAS Database Administrator (DBA) role, or an experienced ADABAS DBA looking for a stable, long-term position.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mainframe and ADABAS Natural experience who wants to broaden their technical skillset and build deep expertise in database administration within a supported, enterprise environment.

Role Details:

  • Maintain, monitor, and optimise ADABAS database systems
  • Perform routine database maintenance including backups, restores, and disaster recovery
  • Plan and implement upgrades and maintenance of ADABAS, Natural, Software AG and related third-party products
  • Apply patches and emergency fixes to maintain stability and security
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimisation
  • Use database utilities and third-party tools for monitoring and management
  • Support and participate in disaster recovery exercises
  • Collaborate with Mainframe Systems Programmers on performance and operational issues
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support (rotational) and maintain clear technical documentation

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Experience as an ADABAS DBA or ADABAS Natural Developer
  • Strong understanding of the ADABAS / Natural environment
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
  • Exposure to performance tuning and database utilities (highly regarded)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communicator with the ability to work collaboratively in technical teams
  • Willingness to train into or continue developing as an ADABAS DBA
